Down sizing to single speaker: Recommendations
I am moving into semi retirement and plan to continue with smaller venues, cafes etc., mostly solo acoustic.
I recently sold my pair of RCF 12As as I am no longer doing larger outdoor gigs. Many venues do not have much floor space available so I am looking for a single powered speaker I can set in a corner, that will give me full coverage and adequate bass response. My voice is my priority, as I cover a lot of material from people like Matt Berninger, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash etc. I have been using a JBL PRX710 but it just does not cut it on the low end. The QSC range has interested me for a while and I am thinking about the QSC K10.2. I wonder if this would be significantly better than the JBL and/or if there are better options? Thanks in advance

QSC k10.2 is WAY overkill for a cafe or small venue but you can always turn down! QSC stuff is great . But for a small venue with focus on vocals I'd say an EAE amp if you need the extra inputs and EQ options or a Bose S1 Pro if you don't.

I've used a single K10.2 for very small gigs--one was a bar no bigger than many living rooms. The bass response should be plenty for guitar & vocals; you could probably even get away with a K8 and save size, weight and money (K10 response goes to 56Hz, K8 not far behind at 59Hz). Some even think the 8s sound better than the 10s. Either one is a fine speaker. As jonfields mentions, the CP8 is another option. I have one as well, but use it as a floor monitor when using two K10s and haven't tried it by itself.

The K10.2 has a wider dispersion, but definitely consider the CP12. Same weight and size as the K10.2 but you get a 12" speaker and significantly cheaper. I just got one and love it. I never could bond with my original K10. It seemed to have more of a hi-fi tone going on. If not the CP12 then definitely the CP8, which I also have and love.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback.
It seems there are a lot of good options around. The next step will be for me to find a place with a good range and A/B a few.

Bose S-1 Pro
I was talking with a local player with a similar presentation who uses the S-1 Pro and based on his experience, I decided this was the most versatile option for my needs.

I used a newly acquired K8.2 for my last 2 gis....one acoustic duo and 1 solo.
I was very pleased with the results. I was going to use my S1 Pro for the solo gig, but ended up using the K8.2 I personally like the K8.2 sound better than the S1. The 27 lb K8.2 feels kinda heavy to me when hoisting it on to the speaker stand. |

My Loudbox Artist stays at home most of the time since I got an S1. I'd recommend either for your situation and it depends on how many effects you want already on board in your amp/PA.

Have you considered something like this?...
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Electro...urce=4SOS0DRBA Very small footprint, built in 8 channel mixer, and you can control everything with the app on your phone.

A Cube Street EX and a pole would be all you need and you can carry them both in with one hand.
It has two 8" drivers and two 2" tweeters and true stereo chorus, delays, and reverb. Two combo input channels and other inputs as well. It's rated 50 watts, but the drivers are super-efficient. |

Depending on the venue.
i use either my cp8 or EAE d68. both are great with a small schertler sub i usecwhen needed. if i had to pick one it would probably be the cp8. because of its power and dynamic range. But i need a mixer. the d68 has a built in mixer.. hard choice. |

I was happy with the S1 after I got it home, though I decided to get the QSC K8.2 as well for when I might be playing on noisier settings. In these settings I will just use the S1 as my monitor.
