Come on man, put your guitar down and try to keep up with the news

I'm very sad about this.

I used to go to the Edison store all the time when I was growing up; it was the first place I drove to when I got my driver's license

Then when I moved to the Philly area, the KOP one was visited often.

I even got to meet Sam Ash himself when he showed up to see Chris Martin (not the Coldplay dude) give a talk.

Oh, and I lived in NYC for a summer (in 1998) and I frequented their NYC location as well.

Tough times for music retailers these days.

I recently went into the Sam Ash store in Richmond, VA, and that's ten minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Little to see and 5% discounts. NAH.....

I bought my first "good" guitar there. A used, low-end Martin. Calling it "good" would be laughed at by most folks here but it was important to me.

Back before the interweb, you could order from Sam Ash. I remember my buddy sending a cashiers check for a brand new hardtail sunburst strat. Of course, it’s vintage now.
