With or without percussion?
I'd like to know if you think the addition of percussion to my arrangement of La Cumparsita is of benefit or if you think it would be better without? Grateful for your thoughts on this

Close call. I like the other mixed in instruments. The hand percussion part not so much - does not really fit in and becomes repetitive.

I think, in basic home recordings, and in youtube videos like this, it's better to go without. Adding background instruments when someone is clearly by themself in a room feels a little hokey (not you specifically, just with YT vids in general) and it's a lot more down to earth and "real" just to hear the performer you are looking at. You always want to keep it down to earth and honest on YT. Even adding reverb will sometimes put people off as people are watching living room vids to hear a raw performance. If they want a slick production they will search for a well-known performer.

Hi,
I think theipercussion you added (I guess it’s a cajón) is good, It’s very nice the way it is. |
