Default Shawn Lane 1963-2003 R.I.P

I just heard the very sad news,
guitar player Shawn Lane died last nigh, Sep 26, at the young age of 40.

This is a true lost for music. His album "powers of ten" was a good friend to me.

Tragic news. He was a scarifingly great guitar player. Any word as to what he died from?

The obit that I read said that it was from a "lung disease"....Wasn't any more specific than that. But it also led me to beleive he suffered fromit for quite some time.

Was he the ''Shaun" fella that playd fusion ? If it's the same , I saw him at a Jeff Sipes drum clinic and he played with Jeff and some swedish guy on bass and that was a very interesting drum clinic with all that fusion going on. Pretty heavy duty fusion for just a trio . I recall the name Shaun but don't recall his last name . He would be about 40 by now and was fairly heavy guy with long hair and full beard. Played through a peavey rig. REally fast hands played melodic scale runs in rapid succession , duh I gues that is what fusion is . Anyway I wonder if it is the same guy I saw that died.

Yes, it is the same person.

He had a resume as long as your arm.
Was a session musician for a time.

Joined Black Oak Arkansas when he was
fourteen or fifteen.

Well Robert Palmer at 54 , Shawn at 40 man when your about to have the big 60 you dont want to hear about all these younguns dying. bummer
