rainsong CO-OM1000N2
Here is a dumb question. are these CF guitars lighter than standard ,say OM models, guitars? I am still kind of "iffy" about purchasing one. Thanks.

Yes, Rainsongs are lighter than similarly sized wooden guitars...

RS's are light ! Other CF guitars may or may not be lighter. Buy from a good dealer with a good return policy and you will be covered.

I've never had a lighter guitar than a RainSong OM. It was notable and unforgettable. A McPherson Sable on the other hand? That is a different matter- so I guess it depends on which CF you are talking about.

Both my RainSongs are very lightweight, about on par with a high-end, lightweight and resonant boutique mahogany wood guitar. But they also have full barndoor, active pickup systems in them which add weight due to the battery and preamp.
If they were without these pickup systems they would be lighter than almost any wood guitar short of vintage or Authentic-type mahogany guitars. Conversely, every other CF guitar I've owned in the past (Emeralds and Journey's) have been significantly heavier. |

Among the Emerald and Composite Acoustics guitars I’ve owned and Rainsongs I’ve had the opportunity to try, by far Rainsongs have been the lightest.

Oh yeah, big difference ! Sable is hard on the back if you want to stand, but oh so easy on the ears ! LOL

My Emerald X-20 (5.0 lb) is heavier than an Eastman OM (4.7 lb) I had, which was nearly identical in overall length and width. The Emerald is 0.5" deeper though.

My CO-OM (12 fret) is shockingly light. And the carbon fiber is so stiff and strong you can feel the vibrations against your body. It's the liveliest guitar I've ever played.

A RainSong CO-OM1000N2 is as light as a feather!

Most RS dealers can order you the guitar you want with the 12 or 14 fret neck. I recommend LA Guitar Sales

My Rainsong OM is very light.
My Rainsong WS is a heavy mother though. (it's also a 12 string)
