I think the search is related to options. We have a bewildering array of guitars to chose from and it seems that no matter which options we chose, others turn up as desirable.

I have been looking for The One, the perfect guitar, and paying for it over and over. But that's fine and I think I'm getting close. I've thought that before, but now I'm really sure. Yup.

It is important to have a goal to work towards.

I once saw a guy who played guitar with his hands and bass with his feet. Yeah, I was a bit creeped out.

I keep visualizing a tiny midget hanging upside down near a soundhole...

Kidding aside, I started in April in 2018 with Martin GPC28 on a guitar journey thinking that was going to last til I rest... As I learned more and played more, I moved to OF660 and then X7steel. I still have them and love 'em. But, I found myself drawn to nylon tone and what seems to be a better match for my no pick preference. Sold my GPC(shoulder pain), bought Cordoba Fusion12 Orchestra and got rid of it(right shoulder pain), now I recently bought Yamaha CGS102a nylon 1/2 size guitar for $97 and I have no pain playing. I guess I am saying, as you experience, learn and grow, you may find yourself walking down a path you never expected... one of the joys of living

The perfect guitar IMHO is the one you have in your hands... Or the one you are hanging on dearly for your life in case of that midget Selling my X7steel for X?nylon is looking more tempting everyday.

Two Guitars? Two?

Last set I played I took FOUR:

6-string tuned standard
6-stiring in an alt tuning
Baritone
12-string

Plus the wife's Farrilon and bodhrán.

Don't forget the archtop for that jazz tune you want to throw in, the nylon string for the classical piece, and one or two different body style/voiced flattops for, say, fingerstyle vs bluegrass picking. And don't even get me started on electrics.

There is no ONE guitar. And I don't just say that to justify GAS.

So, can we surmise that you're not Michael Angelo Batio?

My quest has always been to own guitars that have distinct personalities and inspire me to play. I’m fortunate to live that reality right now.

My CF journey started as just wanting a travel guitar that sounded good and could handle being left in a hot or cold car with no worries. I bought a Rainsong P-12 and it met my needs quite well for 3 years. But I wanted something to travel with that had a bigger sound than the P-12 (it is a small guitar) and my current Rainsong WS1005NST is amazingly good tonally against guitars that cost 2x-4x more. It’s tone is different than my other guitars and instead of treating it just as a travel guitar, I look at it as another bottle of spice in the rack to flavor my guitar playing addiction.

Kramster and Joel man,

as with all others, midgets evolve (just like guitars)... there are some that grew to be with the Jumbos and the ones that you, Joel man likes, have been known to hang with the... toothbrushes, the electric version, and they are very vibratory and called the, "tiny".

Should I get some sleep...?
