Boss pedal question
Does anyone here know if there is a mic preamp built into the Boss RC-20xl pedal? When I run my dynamic mic direct into the mixing board, there is some distortion and low "power" from it, (for lak of a better term, I'm new to this). But when I run the mic thru the Boss pedal then to the mixer its strong with lots of volume. I read the spec chart that came with it but it does not state anything about a preamp built in and I have not been successful finding a talk site for that piece of equipment. Sure seems like it has one but it may something else built into the circuitry that I dont know about. Thanks guys

Yes, it has a mic preamp. I'm guessing that because its a 1/4" input (rather than XLR), its designed for dynamic mics (specially low cost ones without a balanced output).
What mic are you using?

Hi, just got back today. A cheap ADM2000 dynamic mic. The MXL condenser mics for vocals work perfect into the mixer. I guess I have to upgrade the mic for guitar (dynamic). I guess what I am doing is pre-amping the pre-amp, so to speak to make up for the non-balanced mic, right? Thanks for your in-put on this.
