Default Thoughs on a Godin Montreal?

I recently started taking lessons again after 20 years off, and am trying to learn a bit of jazz solo. I have decided to set a goal of buying myself a nice instrument after a year of lessons. As I am starting to look, one guitar in particular has caught my imagination. It is a Godin Montreal, semi hollowbody.

My only knowledge of Godin are seagull acoustics, which I think offer pretty good bang for the buck.

I think it's a lovely looking instrument. It also sounds pretty darn good, if this performance is anything to go by. Be patient, he does play it eventually....

I love how the acoustic tonality comes in in the higher registers... seems like a very versatile guitar.

Thanks for the link. Really cool to watch. Do you know what that drum sound pedal is? Is it homemade?

I haven't heard one in person, but have also been thinking about getting one. There's another link here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n_T8sHgVvg. The guy talks for about 1:15 minutes about the guitar, play it solo and then with a backing track. When he solos in the lower register it sounds like a high end bass guitar solo. The notes are thick without being muddy. He doesn't use the piezo at all, but you get a really good sense of how good the electric side of the Montreal is.

Of note is that this one has the Mahogany top which is all you can get now. The guy in the other video linked above has the spruce top version, a little older.

i tried one in a shop years ago, and it had a lot of potential. very versatile sounds. it was heavy, iirc, and i didn't like the neck profile, but it seems like lots do the neck.

Double post alert... I had to. Here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KZdF...eature=related is another video of Andy Dacoulis doing a sound check with the Godin Montreal. You really get to hear the piezo alone and then the electric. GREAT tone, all mahogany.

And more, in a brief but jazzier vein, here:

There is a ton of stuff on YouTube about this guitar, now that I come to look.

Default drum pedal

The pedal is called a porch board. I have tried various different home made stomp boxes as a bass fill so to speak without any success. Love to get one but cannot get past the price! here is the link.http://porchboard.com/
