I think it is either the Taylor 410ce in the over 1 G category or the Epi Masterbuilt DR-500R in the under.

How many bucks? If you can provide a specific price range, the answers will come.

Tonal and body-size preferences will vary by player, but I think of Larrivee's 03 Series, Martin's 15 Series (including the Custom Sitka-topped models), and Taylor's 200 Series guitars to be outstanding "Bang for the Buck" guitars.

There's no answer.
There are many fine budget acoustics these days. Personally, I feel the Big Baby is a steal, if you can tolerate the no frills look. Doc |

Seagull S6.
Martin D-15. Alvarez solid topped guitars and their Masterwork (all solid) series. I wouldn't buy an Alvarez without playing and checking it out thoroughly!! Of the three above I have to give a thumbs up to the S6 as being a good all around guitar when it comes to flatpicking and fingerpicking. It does both very well. The Martin D-15 coming in second. IMO, of course. The Larrivee D03s and the Taylor 214s I've played were great but haven't had either follow me home yet. Maybe one day. |

That said, I have been surprised by the sound and feel vs. the cost of the Taylor 110, the Seagull S6, and Larrivee 03. They're different, but I think they represent excellent values, especially when you can find a used one in good shape. cotten |

Best bang for a street price between about $1000 and $2000...
