Default What Rosette?

710 with redwood top.
What would look better, standard Koa, or upgraded Abalone?
I thought abalone at first b/c it looks great with Redwood, however, I LOVE the look of the Rosewood binding and I'm thinking that sticking with the Koa may be more "Earthy" and kinda tie it all together. Your thoughts?

I just don't care for abalone. If I could get a guitar with nothing but wood, I'd be much happier.

I love abalone. My Guild has an abalone rosette and I like alittle bling on my guitar. I think with a redwood top the abalone would really sparkle and add to your guitar. Koa would just blend in too much for my tastes.

My cedar-topped 714ce has a koa rosette and it looks sweet. The koa rosette doesn't look as good on spruce IMO. I would go with abalone on a spruce top.

I really dislike abalone on anything: rosette, binding, anything. I love the look of wood. Just my taste.

Go for something a little different. Try high figured bubinga. I like the all wood look too.

I do love abalone, but I think you are right about the koa tying in nicely with the rosewood. I feel that way about the rosette on my 710-L9, and I think it would be even nicely on redwood.

I have an abalone rosette on my 910 with redwood top...and it looks perfect! I like koa rosettes, but I just don't think one would look as good with redwood.

MHO, of course.

I voted koa because I love wood on the rosette. I think it is very understated and classy.

That being said, the abalone rosette on my 814ltd is starting to grow on me...
