Default NGD: Collings OM1 T

Hello all,
A little while back, I posted a thread about needing help choosing and OM. I placed and order at Artisan Guitars in Nashville on Saturday and look what FedEx brought today! Anybody want to take a guess as to what it is? I can’t open it for another 12-24 hours, so for all I know, it’s an electric bouzouki!

Looks like cardboard to me.

On the other hand, knowing where you got it, it is probably one I looked at on-line myself. But which one?

I'm gonna guess you went with Collings, since Artisan is no longer a Santa Cruz dealer...

Just to add to the mystery, Artisan also carries Maton and pre-owned instruments from other manufacturers, but who knows? It’s been a crazy year!

Hint: there’s no rosewood in this box.

Also, which image hosting service do you use? I’ve not been a let to get IMGUR to work on this forum.

Default NGD: Collings OM1 T

Hello again!
Thanks for the help with posting images, Haasome! Yes, it's a Collings OM1 T with a baked sitka top. What ended up leading me to this instead of the other instruments in my post on finding an OM were a couple of YouTube videos. The first was from Eddie's Guitars and the other was the one featuring this very guitar on the Artisan YT channel. In both videos, the players were strumming and it dawned on me that THIS was the guitar sound I wanted.
I'd like to thank Bill, Jesse, and Ellie at Artisan for chatting with me on the phone and making the whole buying experience so excellent. I'd like to thank fellow forumites Mark L and LakewoodM32Fan for helping me frame my thoughts about this. In fact, Mark might have been the first to suggest this very instrument.
Did it hurt that the top has all of that 3D silky goodness? Not one bit. Still I like the plain overall aesthetic. The neck is perfect for me and for the life of me, I cannot find a single note on the neck that isn't equally as beautiful as the last. I've never experienced this level of balance and perfection in an instrument. I've got to make dinner for my kids now, but here are a few pics of the real thing:

Congratulations. I’ve purchased a couple of Collings from Artisan and they were terrific. What a beautiful top! That’s a great guitar, enjoy.

Congratulations. I've a weakness for Collings guitars, and an especial affection for Bill and Ellie--and Jesse at Artisan. Great guitar and good folks. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do my two Collings OMs.
