Default NGD-Southern Jumbo Ultimate 12 fret

Wow am I pumped. I live on the island of Okinawa Japan. Not really much in the way of music stores here. There are a couple of second hand shops I frequent though. I came across this gem yesterday and had to have it. Something about a 12 fret I just can’t put my finger on. I was able to play it at an impromptu jam last Night attended by a few folks. I must say It did not disappoint. I got several compliments from my guitar buddies. I am looking forward to getting to know this one better. There’s just something about a 12 fretter.

Just beautiful! Good thing you jumped on it quickly.

Where you looking for a Gibson or stumbled across this and knew you had to have it?

Well Dru,
When I was younger I had a Martin D-28 12 fret that I foolishly let go. I also had a great J45 that I let go with the ups and downs of life. I wasn't really looking to buy a guitar, it is just my Sunday morning routine to hit these shops and kick the tires. As soon as I hit the old Lester Flat G run, it was over. In the case was the COA from the custom shop and all the original case candy. It was a lucky score for sure.

That's a beautiful guitar, and a powerful one, as well. Nice find.

Whoa! Congrats on a great score. I have loved me some 12 fretters and still have a 1932 Gibson L1 and a Fairbanks F30 Roy Smeck. But those SJ 12 fretters were one of the few Bozeman-made Gibsons I had a hankering for. What it is about 12 fretter that you could not put your finger on is the difference between a 12 fret and 14 fret guitar is like the difference between hitting a snare drum in the center as opposed to hitting off to the side nearer the rim.

Killer 12 fret SJ! I almost bought one similar to it at Wildwood Guitars a while back. Kinda wish I did but that's water under the bridge. Congrats on what must be a great guitar...enjoy!
