Boss WL-20 storage and transport question.

I recently got a Boss WL-20 and I like it a lot but I haven’t been able to figure out one thing. When I transport it, I would really like to plug the transmitter into the receiver and then store and transport it in a vinyl mic pouch. Is this a good idea or will I drain the batteries if I do this? I’ve been storing and transporting the two pieces separately, but they might be in standby mode like that and it might actually be worse. Does anybody know for sure?
