I like it. It’s a great mood. Kind of what an introspective blues player might come up with after two weeks in the Spanish county side.

If you’re looking for constructive criticism (apologies if you’re not ).... Just about halfway though there’s a few seconds of intonation issues that were somewhat distracting. Overall I like the tone, but it was has a little bit of a pickup sound. Which is good if it is a pickup because it’s very mic like, if it’s not a pickup I’d personally mess around with mic placement to get a little more depth.
Nice work.

I like it, too . . . very nice. I agree with Eric about it sounding like Spanish blues.

I actually really dig the tone--at least for this piece. Sounds a bit metallic, but in a good way. Almost like a dobro without the nasally mids.

I liked it enough that I'd be willing to listen to more . . .

Thanks for listening guys.

Constructive criticism is always welcome (just not as welcome as gushing praise ).

A critic at another forum also pointed out that intonation problem (I think, in all honesty it may just be that I was not as fussy about the tuning as I should have been - sometimes when I pull off a near perfect performance early on I just go "That'll do me". I know, I really should check these things before I start recording. )

I recorded this piece using an I-Beam, not a mic.

Great plug for the Ibeam, very mic-ish.
You may have just went a little out of tune for one short spot becasue of a tricky fingering(?), it seems very in-tune before and after.

You may be right, perhaps I just "bent the strings" a little too much.

Very flamenco...if you have a chance to pick up a nylon string in a store or something you should play that and play it faster as the song progress'

I bet it would sound sweet.

Man, I think that is great. I loved it and wish I could play that well.

At what point is the intonation problem that is mentioned. As a relative newbie, I would like to study it and hear it.

Anyway, sweet, very sweet.

Would love to hear some more if you have it.

could you please share your setup/axes? Do you plug ibeam directly into your soundcard via line-in? Very curious.

The setup was - I-Beam (active) > LR Baggs Para DI > Bass V-Amp (Amp simulations deactivated, just used for adding reverb and the slightest hint of compression) > Soundcard.

The guitar is one I made myself. Basically a 000-style.

Thanks for listening.

I wouldn't worry too much about intonation issues. If you can't hear them then they don't matter.

Nice job. I think the tuning issue is a matter of pushing the strings harder to execute a fingering, since your tuning is dead on for the rest of the song.

Thanks sfg2000.

You're probably right on the tuning.

Why am I not perfect???

wow.....sounds a little complicate. I have some questions:
1. since ibeam is active, what's the purpose of Para DI? Just for sound shaping/colouring?
2. what's Bass V-Amp?
3. what soundcard are you using?
4. I'm wondering if you plug your ibeam directly into the soundcard, would you get the same sound quality? so what's the key element to get this quality?
Thanks!!
