Hey guys,
Wanted to share a cover I did of this Tim Hardin tune...I've been listening to a lot of Tim Hardin lately...really underrated 60s/70s singer-songwriter. |

Thanks a lot, Bob. I only recently discovered Tim Hardin's music. What a great, and under-appreciated singer-songwriter.

Nice to see someone who remembers Tim Hardin! He wrote some really, REALLY good songs, back in the 60's... vocally, he was a big influence on me as I was getting started playing and singing...
His 3rd record (Tim Hardin - Live at the Town Hall) is to this day one of my all-time favorites... and is representative of my "ideal" group for live performances, still... so many of the players on that record were incredible jazz musicians and went on to make brilliant music! (Of course, Eddie Gomez was already "famous" for his work in the Bill Evans Trio...) I still play a number of Tim Hardin songs when I get out and gig... along with "Reason to Believe". I do "Misty Roses", "Smuggling Man", "Lady Came From Baltimore", "Don't Make Promises" and "Black Sheep Boy"... Thanks for remembering and honoring Tim; thanks for posting this!

Thanks Jseth and Sal. It's not like I remember him... it's that I've just discovered his music! He's just as good as some of the mega-famous singer-songwriters of his time but didn't seem to get the acclaim he deserved. Also sad reading about his death at a young age.

So true. And to think I used to believe that Rod Stewart wrote this tune!

Hi, enjoyed your video.
I was struggling to learn guitar in the late '60s and apl'ed up with a Canadian guy who sold me his Gibson J-50 looking remarkably like the one you are playing. So the guitar and the song take me back about fifty years. The song is is (to me at least) a very personal and rather cynical piece, and whilst I find the original very striking, I enjoyed your version a great deal, well done!

Thanks Glenn. Song came out obviously a long time before I was born! But doesn't make me enjoy it less and the rest of Tim Hardin's songwriting.

Hey, thanks a lot for the kind words. It is a 1968 J-50 I just got a couple weeks back. She sounds great...and I'm slowly but surely adjusting to the neck. Definitely a very differnt feel than my 2014 Gibson J-15.
Yes, there is no doubt a cynicism or maybe a kind of sad resignation in his songwriting. It is very personal and I think it's relatable. Or at least it's real, and other songwriters maybe don't come from that perspective. Thanks for the listening and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it! Quote:
