Shipping insurance is the seller's responsibility.

I hope I dont have to do the insurance like you say cause so far no good answers. Carrier insurance is almost worthless and Clarion is $170 a year.

Actually, I believe, you've been given THE answers. Insurance through the carrier has always worked for me. Otherwise, check with your personal sources - home owner's, personal liability/insurance policies.... I don't believe anyone would step up and insure only your incoming shipment, with no history with you, without you buying an annual policy- such as the already suggested Clarion and Heritage. Anderson... I'm with Heritage and they provide great peace-of-mind.

Add the guitar to your contents policy.

I added our musical instruments as a rider on the homeowner's policy. According to my agent that covers them for "all-risks", including during shipping. I needed a purchase price / receipt and a serial number to add any specific guitar. The annual cost is about $140 now and covers nearly $40K in replacement costs for listed guitars, pro-grade flutes, ukulele, etc.
"Insurance" from the shipping companies is almost useless (many exclusions and gotcha's) and a waste of money, IMO. The "insurance" usually costs more than the shipping itself, and they have a hundred ways to avoid paying a claim. Color me cynical....... |
