New ( 2016 onwards ) Gibson SJ200 & others
I have been looking through some older threads on Gibson acoustics and noticed that in particular the SJ 200 came in for quite a lot of critical comment from several of our very well respected members here .
As far as I can gather ( from reviews in the UK ) the newer Gibson acoustics are very well regarded . Does anyone have any views on / experience with the 2016 J45's ( slightly confused about the Standards vs True Vintage vs Custom Standard vs Vintage etc ) and in particular on the new SJ200 ? It would be great to hear from you . Thank you , as always . George

Nothing on the SJ 200, but I have a 2016 J-45 Vintage that's a superb guitar.

Not sure why anyone would disparage a J-200.
They're every it as good as the EJ-200SCE... just way more expensive. |

My 2016 J-45 Standard is a fantastic guitar. As is my 2016 Songwriter. The acoustics coming out of Bozeman these days are consistently great.

The J-200s are usually great guitars, and the ones currently being produced are as good as any Bozeman-era J-200s. The fatal flaw for me is that they're too big for me to play comfortably, otherwise I'd own one. They are pretty pricey though, I have to admit; I wish the Epiphone E-200s sounded 1/10th as good, but it's like comparing a guitar made of tin to, well, the king of the flattops.

I've got a 2017 J-45 that I've had for about a month. So far I'm very pleased with it. It's one of those guitars that I loose track of time when I'm playing it. My advice is to play as many as you can before buying as they can vary somewhat.

I've played 3 different 2016 J-45 Standards. I didn't care for two of them and loved the third. The J-45 is one of the best when you find a good one.
