Default Silver Creek t160. Still a good deal if you can find one?

A local pawn shop has a Silver Creek t160 for sale. 190.00. I know that's about what they were going for brand new. Still, for less than 200.00 for an all solid wood guitar does this sound like a good find? (Assuming it is in good condition). Heading over to have a look this morning.

I have one I'm going to sell and I have no idea what to sell it for. One recently sold on E-Bay for $325.00. I was thinking of asking $250.00 for mine so I think $190.00 is a good price. Is that with a case ?

I got mine for $79 a few years back from MF. Granted mine is the older version with the chunky vintage neck. Really excellent guitars for the money. $190 sounds a little high I would offer a lower price they might accept it.

No case. I read tons of reviews on them last night and they seem like pretty decent guitars. I've been looking at Eastman's and Breedlove but just don't have the bucks right now.

Actually the model# they give is sc-t1060. I am assuming that is a typo. It looks in the pictures just like a t160.

Welp, too late. I bought it. 185.00 plus tax. They also had an old Silverton electric with a case amp. That was my first electric. Almost bought that too.

I had a T-170 (rosewood 000) from the early batch run, and later picked up a D-160. Both were great playing and sounding guitars. Sold them both, each for over 3 C-notes, for a nice profit after they stopped making them. So you got a fine deal.

Yeah, I think this might be an early batch as well. Pretty chunky neck with a relatively flat fingerboard. Still played surprisingly easily.

Some of the reviews I read questioned how these would hold up over the long term. This one looks structurally perfect. Neck angle is right on the money, bridge is flat and tight, no cracks anywhere, neck s straight and true.

It s kind of dented scratched and banged up though. I can fix that. New project!

I bought 3 Silver Creeks back in the day when they were available from MF. Two D-160's and I one T-170. And I can attest that every one of them was much improved in all respects by a good set up from my luthier.
But The T models didn't really cut it for me. But I do admit to being a dyed in the wool dread picker as well. I did eventually sell all of them. But kinda wish I had kept one of the D-160's. I watch ebay and don't see any Silver Creek's for sale very often. And the price trends seem to going up on what I do see over original costs. Looks to me like most found happy homes. Happy pickin.

Just an update. I seriously love this Silver Creek! Replaced the tuners with the open back Wilkinson's I saw recommended somewhere. (This an essential upgrade for these guitars I think.) Had to tweak the truss rod a bit to eliminate some buzzing.

I just finished scraping flat about a dozen CA drop fills on the back to fix some scratches.

Next up, the nut is a bit high. After watching several YouTube videos on the subject I see the proper way to do this is with a set of fret files(which I do not have). A few videos recommend popping the nut off and sanding the bottom which I have done before. Would it be so wrong to do it that way?

Congrats. I took all of mine to my luthier and told him to make them all they could be. And the difference over stock was remarkable. People who dumped their Silver Creeks w/o tweaking them missed out on how good they could be.

I installed the Wilkinson tuners on mine also a worthy upgrade. Mine is about 7 years old now and gets a lot of play time as it's the only guitar I leave out on a stand. It's opened up nicely over the years and I enjoy it for bluesy stuff. Hard to beat the silvercreeks for the price.
