Default Epiphone AJ220SCE vs HummingBird Pro

Hello

I'm on the lookout to buy an Epiphone Electro Acoustic and have shortlisted the following 2 guitars:

Epiphone AJ220SCE
Epiphone HummingBird Pro

They're all similarly priced and i'm confused between them.

Which one of them is the best, in terms of playability and sound?

I'll use the guitar for mostly strumming songs(not much of fingerpicking), so you might want to take that into account.

I owned an AJ220 and a Hummingbird. Both are great looking/playing/sounding guitars. I did end up selling the Aj220 and keeping the hummingbird. I just like the sound of the hummingbird more. Both sound good, just different.

My hummingbird does have a solid top, I noticed that some of the hummingbird models currently being sold don't.

have fun,

p.s. Mine were both acoustic only versions, don't know how either sounds plugged in.

@pszy22: Thanks for replying.

Can you elaborate on how they sounded different?

And were both of them good for strumming?

Unfortunately, I'm not very good at describing the nuances of wines, beer, fly rods or guitars. I thought both guitars sounded good strumming. I really think it may come down to personal preference.

I do think these sound clips are pretty representative of what I hear -

I just bought an Epiphone AJ 220 (only acoustic) after spending two hours at Guitar Center and comparing it to the Epiphone equivalent of a Hummingbird and a J45. The AJ 220 sounded better to my ears, actually it sounded wonderful, almost incredible considering the price ($220.00) and the fact that it is all laminate (This is what I was looking for, an all laminate good sounding guitar that I can leave around the house without putting it every minute in the case due to the low humidity of the winter season). Once at home, I replaced the plastic nut and saddle with bone, and the guitar's tone even improved. I couldn't be happier.

I'm pretty sure the Aj220's have a solid top. Some of the hummingbirds do, some don't.

The Hummingbird PRO has a solid spruce top, FWIW.
Maybe they put out some sort of Hummingbird Artist model or something with a plywood top, I haven't looked. But the PRO still uses a solid top.
