Default New Guy

Hi, I've lurked on the board and searched for info on acoustic amps. I'm mostly a fiddle and mandolin (including mandola, octave mandolin and mandocello) player. Of course I also play guitar. Thanks for the add.

Anyone with "Mando" as part of his screenname is always welcome, so far as I'm concerned. I also have a fairly extensive history with mandolin family instruments, including mandocello.

Welcome aboard. I surprised nobody has offered acoustic amp info. Possibly someone will chime in if you have a specific question, but I'm betting a post in the amplification area will get you a quick reply.

I also play mando family instruments, but more often banjo and guitar. My guitar corral accidentally grew larger when I recently purchased a Taylor GS MIni to convert to octave mando, but I fell in love with the GS Mini as a guitar. I have an extra GS Mini neck which I'm still going to use by scaling the width back to octave mando size. I have a body only from a smaller archtop Kay (early 40's?) that I'm going to use for the conversion when I get around to it. My playing buddy has a Weber Octar being built for him so I'm waiting to check that out before doing the conversion.

Since you play mando family instruments you might find my low tuned mando project of interest:

Hi Rudy4 - actually I got lots of great acoustic amp info searching this forum. I ended up getting a Carvin AG300 which I really like, though I haven't spent enough time with it yet. My main player is a custom built 26" 10 string mandocello (aka luito moderno) tuned C-G-D-A-E with octave pairs on the lower 3 courses. I'll post a few pics when I get home.
