Default Baritone Guitar

I've owned several in the past. Looking for something in the high teens to low $2k price range. Please send PM or email

Do you care about scale length?

It's not the most important aspect to me. I've owned a SCGC Brozman, a McCollum and a Beneateau. Those ranged from 27 to 28.5 and they all had their strong points.
The Beneateau was multi scale and it was the best that I have played, but it was very expensive and when I found a buyer I decided to let it go. That was also right after my teenager decided to total his car!
For my needs the baritone is an effect, it's very cool but I can't justify having a super expensive one.

Randall, what's your current opinion of the Shabby Chic baritone? I'm looking for an inexpensive baritone. Have you tried the Alvarez ABT60? Any input on the lower end would be appreciated!

If you are okay with the SCGC, you might want to join the Larrivee forum and post a WTB. The 03 series Larrivee baritone is built on their SD slope shoulder dread platform, and is very reasonably priced when you can find it. As you know there were a couple tricks that went into the SCGC that won't be in the Larrivee, but it's a pretty good guitar at a great price. I like it better than the taylor 6 string.

They have nicer ones too, but with Larrivee quality doesn't go up as the number rises. You just get gloss finishes, nicer trim, etc.

The Shabby Chic works quite well. I do believe its the best (most economical) entry point for a baritone guitar. I have been spoiled by owning too many high end guitars. For now the Shabby Chic is what I use when I need a song in lower tuning.
On my for sale thread for the Shabby Chic there is a video demo of that guitar.

Still looking, but it's getting close. Let me know if you have a nice Baritone you would like to sell.

While a bit north of your price range at $3400, Dream Guitars has a Furch that may be worth checking out if only to hear Al Petteway play a tasty little jam: http://www.dreamguitars.com/detail/3...bar24cp_55455/

I almost bought it after hearing Al play it. Then I remembered I can't play nearly as well, so I didn't.

A hearty Amen to that! Have you thought about a possible build thread? As a big fan, (3 TDKs), I for one would love a look at Trevors take on a Bari!
