Default Hercules Stands

Looking for a floor stand...so many to choose from but Hercules seems to have the best reputation. Any thoughts on which one (or another brand)? Probably a single, but maybe a double. Regarding their folding yoke...what's the benefit?

Also, a past thread discussed an auto grip wall hanger that broke. It looks like a Hercules stand is essentially a hanger with legs...anyone else have a similar issue?

Have two.....absolutely zero issues.

They work great!

I think the folding yoke helps if you have to store/transport them. They fold up well and aren't awkward, very streamlined, if that makes sense??

I have 4 Hercules floor stands and some Hercules wall hangers too and they're great. I've never had an issue with them. They're expensive but worth the money, IMHO.

In the thread you referenced, the OP received a new hanger. Like any product there are always going to be some warranty claims. I'm guessing that the Hercules warranty claims are low and I don't recall reading any other "broken Hercules stands/hanger" threads here on the AGF.

I have 6 Hercs; three in the industrial yellow/black; three in the home series woodtone.

The oldest ones I've had at least 10 years with no problems.

I use two of the normal GS414B:

and one (for Dobro) wider neck GS455B:

I have the same versions in the now discontinued woodtone.

These are the home stands scattered around the house and the industrial ones live in a bat bag in the trunk of my car for gigs & jams.

I have 2 - one is like the first that is pictured by KYDave - great single stand. Heavy and the tilt makes it super stable. The folding arms prevent the guitar from being dislodged - a very nice feature IMHO (I have two good sized dogs).

I also have the 5 guitar stand. Folds totally flat if needed and nitro compatible.

I think they make some of the best products of their type on the market.

Thanks for the replies! Will a Strat fit on a GS414B?

Yes, I used that for my Strat last weekend during a gig.

Hi MrB...

I also bought the travel bag (from Hercules) and when you fold it down and pull the legs in and put it in the bag - it fits! That's the sole purpose of the folding yoke.

I bought a Nike bat bag at Goodwill, similar to the one pictured. Just the right length for the GS414B's. I keep 3 Hercs in the main compartment, and a Hamilton in a smaller secondary compartment. Handy if you're schlepping a few stands at once like I always am doing...

GS414B is a great stand. No complaints from me.

I'm a recent convert to Hercules stands and I have a 35 year old collection of other brands that will be donated to the local goodwill store. The Hercules stands and wall hangers are the best.

The weight instigated Gripping mechanism fails too quickly and no customer service from Hercules.
Wouldn't buy their stuff again.
Any one want a three-way stand with grotty grippers?

Sorry you had bad luck.

As I said above, I have Hercs over 10 years old which I use regularly and they still work just fine. Currently owning/using 6 of them with no failures (so far) gives me confidence to recommend them in spite of the bad luck some folks may have had.

Hmm - Mine is quite old too. It was a gift from the bass player in my old band and is at least 10-15 years old w/no problems.

The lack of customer service is a horrible business practice. Just doesn't make sense to me. Too bad. Sorry. Glad I have no complaints, I guess.

I have two of the floor stands, one has a '59 Les Paul on it with no issues.

I have on order, 8 of their slat wall hangars and will be installing them next week.

I was in Carter Vintage Guitars yesterday, everything they own is on Hercules products, on the floor and on slat walls. I'm sure that if there were problems with them, they wouldn't be hanging $75k guitars on them.
