Default Nbd!!

New box day!

I couldn't resist,

Now I have to wait an hour or so for it to warm up to room temp.

Is the guitar all in one piece? Does it have decent strings on it (ordered from Zzounds.com)?

How does it sound?

I've never played an Alvarez AP66 before. I've played other Alvarez parlors and liked them, but none had a hog top, so we'll see.

I got a used AP66sb a year ago. I was well constructed and had good tone, but stings were flat on the fret board and buzzed a little. This is the first time I ever adjusted the truss rod and it worked. With the truss rod adjusted, the buzz disappeared. The AP66sb is a good finger style guitar but can handle some strumming. I use it for my Piedmonnt blues class. I have also but a sound hole passive pickup on it and it sounded good amplified. It has a dark woody tone in contrast to the AP610eshb (solid Sitka top / mahogany Lam back & sides) I recently got a GC. The AP610eshb has a clear bright tone, finger picks well but can take only light strumming. Like others on this forum, I am not a fan of the tuners on these guitars. Have fun and enjoy your AP66sb

I find it a very disappointing box. What's the world coming to when we can't even read on the outside what's inside anymore,
Is it a build your own greenhouse kit?

New Bass Day certainly beats New Banjo Day (at least for those within ear shot).

That's some lovely, straight-grained cardboard. Is it Adirondack?

Congrats on your new box! I have heard good things about that box and even tried one at GC.

Nice box, Barry.

You're going to like having a parlor guitar.
