Default Best pickup for All mahogany guitar

I have a Martin 000-15S that I have tried the LR Baggs Lyric pickup in and it sounded way too "boomy". I have used the same pickup in other similar sized spruce top guitars with success so I am thinking it has something to do with the all mahogany construction. I am wondering what you guys have used in your hog guitars with success?

I'm curious about this, as well. I absolutely LOVE the K&K I installed in my J-35 -- anyone running one of these in an all-hog Martin?

To each his own ... I have the LR Baggs Lyric in my all mahogany Eastman AC508M and I love it.

I had a Baggs M1A in a 000-15m and it sounded mighty fine.

Interesting, so you have had no issues with it being too boomy? I wonder if it is because of the body size on my 12 fret 000!?!?

I have used the K&K with great success in other guitars and might end up going that route as well.

Best? A good external mike.

If it has to be installed in the guitar, then any well known brand that is not a UST. KKK mini is a well regarded choice.

I have a K&K in one of Ted's OM-15 customs and it sounds great. Very natural sounding, plenty of gain, no complaints whatsoever. In fact I have since put them in several of my other guitars as well.

I have a Lyric in my all mahogany parlor and it sounds great - not boomy at all. But, I have heard good things about the K & Ks so maybe that is your ticket. So many variables - hard to know until you try it.

Best,
Jayne

I never realized that there were pickups especially suited to a certain tone wood.

The K&K mini in my 0000-15 sounds awesome. Not too boomy. Perfect though my fishman loud box mini.

k&K all the way. Have put one in a rosewood dred, a koa OM, a RW OOO and a sapele 12 string. Awesome all around.

I'm blissfully happy with the Lawrence Sound Research A-345 in my Martin 0-15, and with the LSR FT-145 in my Harmony H165 (which is also all mahogany). But my definition of "success" isn't constrained by a belief in the myth of "just like my guitar, only louder" (or any other myth).
