Default Anyone good at identifying chords by ear??

Out of all the many versions of this song that are out there, the chords in this one are my favorite, but I can't seem to figure them out! All I've been able to get is that there's a capo on the first fret and the first note is an open low E, and the second note is the G string, first fret.

Hoping that with the experienced ear of all you guitar players here, at least someone will be able to help me out with this? The tabs aren't anywhere online by the way, I've looked. Anyone have any idea?

i would need my guitar in front of me and fiddle a bit... I'm going to guess though that the song is in C overall (?)

This should get you there. Just drop a step from what is written and you will be in the same key.

I should add that I gave you a chord link and not tab. Just take the chord Cdim for example and drop it to a B-flat and then look the appropriate chord up on line or in a book if you are not sure of the notes. This will tell you the notes you need and then you can find them in various places on the guitar and eventually be able to string them together comfortably like was done for the song on Youtube.

With practice, you will get really fast at this process and will be able to sight read the chords at full speed and will wonder why you ever bothered with tabs in most cases.

WOW... I gave this a listen and think it is beautiful. I'm not really into tab, but let me give it a stab. This is only the first two chords. And only how I would do it.

e|-x-x-|
B|-5-7-|
G|-8-6-|
D|-6-7-|
A|-x-x-|
E|-O-O-|

I'd like to work more of this out. Keep me posted if you make any more progress.

Those sound right to me, thank you! I think you just slide up two frets for that third chord so its:

e|-x-|
B|-9-|
G|-8-|
D|-9-|
A|-x-|
E|-0-|

And then back down to the second chord. I'm not sure what's after that when the verse starts though...

I will check this out and do my best to figure out the chords and see if any of them match this particular version of the song!

Tell me about it! I think she is so underrated, she's a Canadian artist who mostly writes songs in French and she doesn't have a huge discography but she does have an album in English. Definitely worth a listen if you are in need of some new music!

Yeah I'll check her out for sure. Just sent the clip to my wife, I think she'll enjoy it too. Thanks for the new tunes!

I'm making progress, but slowly. I didn't get to tablaturize it yet. I have two questions, which I'm too lazy to search for, but answers would speed this process along.

1. When listening to the song, I'm only using Youtube on my phone. It would help to pick an A and B point and replay the segment between A and B over and over. What tool does anyone here use to do this? The little slider on Youtube doesn't give me good results.

2. What is some good software to write tab on an Android based smart phone? Notepad on the laptop isn't leading to happy times.

I'm not too concerned with rhythm here, just the chords. I'm not sure what's going on with the f#dim(?) at the end of the first line. That's the closest I could get to what I was hearing, but I'm still not sure about it.

e|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----5------7-----9-----7-----9-----5-----5-----4----3-----2--------|
G|----8------6-----8-----6-----8-----6-----6-----4----3-----2------1-|
D|--6-----7------9-----7-----------6-----5-----4----3-----2----3-3-3-|
A|---------------------------7---------------------------------2-2-2-|
E|-o-----o------o-----o-----o-----5-----6-----4----3-----2-----1-4---|

e|-----------------------------------------------|
B|---2-----5------------4-----4-----4-3----2-----|
G|---2-----6------------5-----4-----3------2-----|
D|---2-----6----7--7--4-----3------2-----1-------|
A|-------------------------4------------2--------|
E|-2---4-5-6--7--5---4---4------3-2----------1-o-|
