Default amazing guitar teacher/player Songwriters Grooves Project

I was looking online for guitar lesson tutorials (at youtube).
and I found Jonathan Michael Swift.
he is a super talented, super cool, and super nice musician, singer, songwriter and teacher.
I've been taking lessons from him now via Skype for a few weeks.
it's the first time I've taken lessons in about a hundred years.
Jon is teaching me stuff about fingerpicking and something he calls the Pluck and Chuck technique. it's playing a slap or flick strum on every other beat.
I super highly recommend checking him and his website out.
I also super highly recommend taking lessons from him.

peace,
Charlie

I was a little put off by how young he was at first, but wow.

Thanks so much for posting this Charlie, I just got lost in his video for 1/2 an hour.

Definitely going to bookmark him on my 'man cave' computer where I do my learning. You have to set aside time to follow his videos because he's wordy and methodical. Exactly the teaching method I need! ( I'm slow, lol).

Sounds a bit like my nephew the music major teacher.

right on Guitarfish.
my humble opinion:
this guy stepped right down from Mount Olympus.
anybody who looking to make an advancement in their guitar playing, singing, song writing, musicianship,...........and so on, well, let me just say, go spend some time with Jonathan Michael Swift.
he is a force of nature.
he knows a lot about teaching. (the mechanisms by which we learn, psychology. I see him as being an advanced soul).
sooooooo, he knows a lot.
and he's super generous and excellent at teaching what he knows.
really gang, do yourself a favor, and check him out.
and when you look back someday on how you have advanced as a guitarist and whatever else, you will be thankful that such amazing awesome dude is here on this planet.
(if I'm laying it on thick, I only ask that you reserve judgement, until checking him out.)
peace you guys,
Charlie

I took a bunch of lessons from Jon.
am super into learning pluck and chuck style.
it is extra very challenging for me.
but sooooooooo worth it.
I cannot tell you with words how awesome it is.
working madly on Mayer's Stop This Train.
everyday.
I very much recommend checking Jon (Michael Swift) out.
he is talented to the stars.
and he is the most amazing teacher.

Looks like he's meant to teach. Anyone know what fingerpicks those are?

Never mind, he says Alaska pikcs a little ways in.

hey gang,
my teacher Jon joined the forum.
he started a thread in the Play sub-forum.
I just posted in his thread.
and decided to copy and paste my post here, as well as a link to his thread.

welcome indeed Jon.
hey gang, this is my teacher.
I started a thread about him a couple weeks ago.
I super highly recommend checking out his website, videos, lessons, and original and cover songs.
the Pluck and Chuck technique that he teaches is really really cool.
he is imho an absolutely superb stellar teacher of many other techniques too.
I also highly recommend taking lessons from him.
this guy is so talented and so gifted in so many ways...........playing, teaching, singing, musicianship........
he knows a lot about a lot of things
he can help you to become a better musician.
he knows a lot about the mechanics of how we learn, psychologically, and physically.
and he is familiar with the Alexander technique.
honestly, I can see Jon starting a music academy someday.
watch his series of tutorial videos on the Pluck and Chuck technique. he's already designed a curriculum. and he is working on more series. and advanced Pluck and Chuck series, and a Raga Blues series.
disclaimer: I stand to benefit financially zero from any of this. my wish is only that Jon gets noticed, for his good.
and I am telling you, if you would check him out, he may do a ton of good for many of us.
I just decided that I am going to copy and paste this in my thread about Jon from a couple weeks ago. and include a link to Jon's thread here.
peace guys,
Chas
