I have had the Seagull for a year and love it. Easy to play, mellow tone.

To me, the cedar topped Seagull has a better tone.

The Entourage Rustic… in a heartbeat. I like its warmth. It's my favorite Seagull.

Both guitars are pretty much identical other than the sitka vs cedar tops. But, that alone will make a substantial difference in the tone.
Certainly the Seagull Entourage Rustic has a bigger following than the Simon & Patrick simply because there are so many more of them available. I've seldom if ever had anyone say they didn't love their Seagull Entourage Rustic. You don't mention if the Seagull has electronics, so I'll assume it doesn't. The built in electronics in the S&P are worth $100+, so that's a consideration worth thinking about. The Seagull gig bag is worth maybe $40. Hope this helps ...

Don't know much about the S&P, but will say the Seagull necks always felt a bit too "chubby" for my taste. Maybe that won't matter to your mate, but offering my 2 cents worth.

I've owned both S&Ps and Seagulls. While I have a preference for the straighter string pull headstock on the Seagull, I'm happy playing either one (assuming I get to test the particular sample.)

It's a toss-up who to trust. You've probably already seen this, but here's a link to the current specs for Simon & Patrick acoustics.
http://www.simonandpatrick.com/specs.htm Currently (according to S&P) the Songsmith models are spruce top. Of course this does not rule out the possibility that they were cedar in earlier iterations. It also doesn't take into consideration that Godin is notoriously bad regarding consistency and accuracy on their web site information.
