What a lovely, restful piece! I enjoyed it thoroughly. I love the way he processes the melody through fugal form in the middle.

Sounds good. The composition is very typical of the music from that period.

Had not heard that piece before, and I love it. Sometimes I think that anything written past about 1700 is not worth listening to. One of my favourite pieces is Mudarra, Fantasia 10. Been overplayed, by everyone, but it's a great piece of music.
My only nit is I would have liked a bit more force and dynamic range. I have always been a Parkening fan, and I love the way he attacks the music, especially the older repertoire. Just brings it alive. But that's a minor nit, and it was lovely playing.

Lovely piece of music and nicely played! Never heard this composer before. It would be very kind of you to share guitar tab as well.

Very pretty song and wonderfully played. I enjoy that sort of "harpsichord" sound that a classical guitar gives to this type of music. Takes me back to when I was a lad 450 years ago. Well done!

link to guitar tab note that the tuning is slightly different, similar to a renaissance lute, with the g string tuned down to f#, although the renaissance lute would have been pitched a bit higher then a guitar, so you can also capo at the 2nd or 3rd fret if you'd like (i do not). my left hand fingerings are above the tab. i tend to use a lot of glide fingers. you can find out more about anthony holborne (not too much is known) here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Holborne http://www.hoasm.org/IVM/Holborne.html |
