Question LR Baggs M80 Questions

I just pulled the trigger on one of these new Baggs Sound Hole Pickups the M80. I'm curious if people here have used them and how do you like them? I watched the videos on the baggs web site and it looks like a winner.

Has anyone attempted to use it temporarily in a guitar out of the front of the sound hole. Not installing the end pin and removing it from the sound hole when you were done? I'm curious if I will be able to use it in the fashion or if it will cause grief.

I've never been a fan of the look of a sound hole mounted pickup but I know they can sound great. I'm going to try using it on my Goodall for now and if I like it enough I may have it permanantly installed.

You can certainly run it without a permanent install. Cable right out the front will be fine. It takes some getting used to, but I have learned to carefully place it into my sound hole without having to remove the strings.

Hi Robert,

did you get your M80 and if so, what's your take on it?

I got one several months ago and it is fine but there is no mistaking that it is a magnetic pickup. Hard to dial in the EQ for a really nice acoustic sound. Instead, I just accept the tone for what it is.

Same for me. It's a compromise with the sound. Better feedback resistance, easy to install/remove but not really what I call an acoustic sound...
