Default Do Chroí Álainn (Bourgeois SJ MRW)

I have an old friend who despises everything DADGAD and won't even let me retune his guitars...

Today I heard him tune up his dread and noticed how the notes were similar to DADGAD. Turns out Mr. Anti-DADGAD was a fan a open D tuning, which is only one half tone lower on the 3rd string (DADF#AD)... LOL

I was working on my arrangement of Do Chroí Álainn, a traditional Irish love song which is fairly simple, and figured it was a good tune to explore open D with.

Here it is, performed on my Bourgeois SJ:

Thank you for listening.

Well, by the sound of this track I'd have to say open D works perfectly. Beautifully played, Mau.

Very nice, Mau. I'd say you did really well with open D.

Dang Mau!

Great job -- AGAIN! It sounds really wonderful. We may need to have you put a "Joe Charter" album together.

Nice one Mau. You have an ability to keep my attention with the fingerstyle tunes you play, when if I was honest, most fingerstyle tunes I hear make me doze off after 30 secs and lose interest.

But, you have that something extra and its always a joy, so thank you.

Mau, that was so pretty and you made it that way with such an up front melody and minimal accompaniment from the lower strings. I would love to here more guitar tunes composed in this simple and effective manner! Thanks for posting this gem.
