K&K Pure Classic: Reuse after Removal?
I just replaced a K&K Pure Classic with an LR Baggs Anthem system and would like to reuse - or sell - the K&K. There is some superglued residue left on the transducer disks. Is there an easy and non-damaging way to remove this so that the system will transmit correctly in a second installation?

I think you can clean it off with a little acetone on a cloth.

Can't help you.
But if you do get the glue off, please post how you did it for the rest of us. Thanks. |

Hobby shops sell debonding agent for CA glue, and that does a pretty thorough job of it. I think it's pretty much just acetone with a couple of other things added. Nail polish remover (the old school stuff) works too, especially on stuck fingers.

My tech was able to get the disks off and clean the bridgeplate area but wasn't able to save them for reuse. I don't think it can be done but if you figure it out, please let us know.

I had to move a JJB piezo (similar) today, and, after carefully detaching the piezo with a flat razor blade, was able to clean off the pickup with several gentle applications of finger nail polish remover (acetone) and judicious use of a fingernail through a paper towel. Be careful not to scrape the piezo with too much force and bend it, though.
Obviously, if you sell it, mark it as previously installed/removed, as there's risk to the integrity of the piezo. |

Thanks for the advice, all. I'll try the nail polish remover route first.

Sand it off, by rubbing the transducer on sandpaper on a dead flat surface.
