One liners
"Take out your false teeth momma I wanna suck on your gums!" The J. Geils band post reminded of that line. What other musical one liners are worthy of remembrance? (regular disclaimer - if this has been done before and I'm sure it has, please ignore" & I don't know if that lyric is offensive, it's not to me.) Thanks

I had forgotten about that one. Classic.
Another J. Geils song, though it was originally done by The Contours: "First I look at the purse"

Beastie Boys have some of the best IMO:
"I'll steal you honey like I stole your bike." "My chrome is shinin' just like an icicle, I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle." "Cause life ain't nothing but a good groove, a good mix-tape to put you in the right mood." "What's going through my mind comes through in my walk." "I pass the mic to 'D' for a fist-full of truth." That band was so much more that "Fight for Your Right" which was probably their worst song...ever. Dang, I miss MCA. |

I always loved the Elvis Costello line: "She's filing her nails while they're dragging the lake."
from Watching the Detectives. Talk about cold!

A couple come to mind... for some reason....
I have always been struck by the Edie Brickell line, "Philosophy is a talk on a cereal box; religion is a smile on a dog." ...and one that I've always loved, from Southern Culture on the Skids: "I met my baby in a used car lot... drinkin' cheap wine and a-throwin' rocks." It works so well with the song, and is just so them...

Lord! Far too many to mention (if you've been paying attention...)! That one just happened, by the by, it's not one of my choices...
Tom Waits (from "Hold On") "If you live it up, you won't live it down..." "So, she left Monte Rio, son... just like a bullet leaves a gun..." "With her charcoal eyes and Monroe hips" "Everyone's lookin' for someone to blame; if you share my bed, you share my name..." "Go ahead and call the cops, you don't meet nice girls in coffee shops..." ...and these are just from the first couple verses. Gotta love Tom! He's had nearly ENTIRE songs that are pretty much one one-liner, after another... Lowell George is another favorite for great lines... "She don't need a gun... she's an ultimatum..." "She's got no corners, she can turn on a dime..." ("Down Below the Borderline") "I'm devoted, for sure, but my days are a blur... while my nights turn into your mornings..." "Fool that I am, I'd do it all over again..." ("Mercenary Territory") "You know, her toes were so pretty... and her lies so sweet..." ("Long Distance Love") There a lot of great lines out there...

The setup on this one is too good, so I left it in. The one liner is bolded for emphasis. I used it for years in my wasted youth. John Lee Hooker
So I go down the streets, down to my good friend's house I said "Look man I'm outdoors you know, can I stay with you maybe a couple days?" He said "Let me go and ask my wife" He come out of the house, I could see it in his face I know that was no He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know" I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too"
