Question Dead String?

Has anyone bought a new guitar and one string sounds dead or slightly muted when plucked compared to the other strings? Just wondering because I have a new guitar and sounds great other than the D string doesn't ring like the other 5. So i was wondering if it was just a dead string? or if for some reason the ball of the string is maybe not caught under the pin like normal?

I think it usually means the core has snapped on the offending string, most times a quick change will take care of the problem.

It can be several things.
Change out the strings and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't fix it, take the guitar to a Tech.
