Default need guidance on getting a new guitar

At the moment I'm currently playing a small 3/4 acoustic for home use however a friend of mine wanted to start up a band together and this guitar really isn't suitable.

Wanted to stick with acoustic but was unsure whether to get an acoustic and just get a mic for it or get an electro acoustic. Being a student I have a low budget of around £300 max ( for the guitar only), would use my friend's amp so ignore that side of things. My problem is that for someone who plays guitar my knowledge on them is pretty poor and I could do with a few pointers on what people think is good and what to avoid on my budget. Obviously I would try before I buy when going shopping but would like to go in with an idea what I'm looking for. thanks!

Hi there, seems you are looking also for electronics, hence I would suggest a used Takamine as they are good guitars with good electronics that should get into the your budget.

+1 on the Takamine, unless you are looking used and then you can get something that would ordinarily cost you more when new. However, I also agree that you'd be better off with built-in electronics. Good luck!

The Seagull Entourage cutaway dreadnought with Quantum I pickup can be had in your price range. Solid cedar top with wild cherry back and sides. Nice rustic sunburst finish. Here's info and a pic from the Seagull website ... http://www.seagullguitars.com/seagul...tic_cw_gt.html
