There are still a lot of Taylor folks hanging around here. We just have to mingle with the "other" guitar players, now.

They have finally seen the light and traded in their Taylors for Martins.

You missed one, Wadcutter. Can I have it? I've got a Martin t-shirt you can have.

to taylor. they are starting their own forum.

actually all brands are folded under the general heading. there is no need for specific brand sub forums(fora?).

Big Baby is a great beater. No Martin would qualify for a beater. Not one.

I know! I've already started peeking curiously at the "other" brands in the music stores. Not sure if I'll be able to keep my hands off too much longer.

But don't tell my 716ce...

I've signed up over at the UMTF too. Nice forum and I enjoy it but I have no reason to leave the AGF. There's just too much information and fun to be gained here, and I'm happy to learn about all sorts of guitars.

I would say that one of the laminated spruce top/composite (non-wood) back & sides "starter" Martins might qualify. I have a D-15 rosewood/spruce that, while much more expensive now on Musician's Friend's price list, was not much costlier than list price on a Big Baby when I first bought it. There are also the old laminated Sigma Martins that can be had used for the price of a Big Baby. Ditto solid-top/plywood back & sides Yamahas that cost about half as much new at big-box stores as a Big Baby; But the ultimate beater would be one of the Gretsch "Way Out Wests" that MF sold for half a benjamin (and whose list price is still much cheaper than that of a Big Baby or starter Martin)as a Stupid Deal of the Day a few years ago--it's basically dense particle-board, but it plays okay for noodling-around/songwriting/picnic/beach party purposes if set up properly.

The "Jr." thing was my own joke... for being the young, new moderator. Probably the youngest this site has had.
Check up above, under my handle, I've since changed it to "Whippersnapperator." I'm still representing the young and hip.

I have a Martin D1 that qualifies. Then again, I don't beat any of my guitars, even the Martins.
