Default Stapedectomy (ear surgery) results.

Hey All. I had Stapedectomy surgery in my left ear 3 months ago. It's a surgery where a small bone in the inner ear (the stapes) is removed and replaced with a titanium prosthesis. Sometimes this bone gets fused, doesn't vibrate much, and results in a loss of hearing that isn't nerve related.

Yesterday I had my hearing test and final checkup. I gained about 40 decibels, which is just about the max I could have achieved. Fantastic results!

One month after the surgery and I knew it had worked I ordered by Taylor BTO.

You bet, $ better spent on BTO! To not have to worry about health care costs is such a blessing! Yep, back to the original topic!

I'm originally from Nova Scotia and was in Paris two weeks ago. Does that count?

Well ... considering I was born in Nova Scotia and lived there a few years, and visit my folks a few times a year, YES, it does count! I've never been to France though. Why did you go to Paris? Business or Pleasure?

Great news, Dru. One both counts.

Doctors knives scare the heck out of me... So far so good, they've not touched me.

Thanks ... and I don't blame you. I've been put to sleep 3 times (tonsils, wisdom teeth, and ears). I can also say that I am healthy!

Thanks Sharon. I'll be sure to post some pics of the new guitar, and I'm sure it will sound much louder than it would have a few months ago.

A pleasure trip for my wife and I. 16 days spent touring (sites and visiting vineyards) in Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Piza, Venice, Paris, and a visit to Laval, France to see my wife's family on her (deceased) mother's side. A memorable adventure!

Thanks Spieler.

There was one 'drawback' to the surgery. I lost some of the taste on the left side of my tongue. Dr. confirmed this is due to the surgery but I should be better in 6 month. Nothing major but it does feel just a tad numb.
