Default Check out the tone on this Dell'Arte dreadnaught

I had John Kinnard build me a dreadnaught in 2005. Mahogany back & sides, Adirondak top.

I recently used it on a session in Nashville which was a couple vocal/guitar duets (1 track of vocals and 1 track of guitar) and you can really hear the guitar's tone.

You can hear the first song (Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas) here....

You can hear a sample of the second song (The Christmas Song) here....

...its the 5th song on that site.

In the RECORD area of the forum, I talked about the mic placement used on this session. That thread is here....

John Kinnard's guitars are awesome - and for a custom hand built VERY reasonably priced.

Thx

I came close to buying a Del Arte Leadbelly 12-string and hope to eventually find one when the time is right. He also makes great gypsy jazz boxes ala Django.

Fine playing and great sounding dread. I'm guessing from the lack of a pickguard that the guitar is build for fingerstyle?? What is the width of the fingerboard at the nut?

Very nice. Loved the guitar. Loved the vocals too. Is this going to be available on a CD? (Yes, I still like to buys CDs.)

Actually John built it for me to play in the National Flatpicking Championship at Winfield. Its a GREAT flatpicking guitar. I hope to record some flatpicking on it soon.

I didn't want a pick guard as I don't hit the face of the guitar when I'm flatpicking/strumming. I had him build it with a 1 3/4" nut (I like a wide neck).
