Default New Rainsong in the works! With pictures!!

Ashvin and I have been discussing the possibility of several new models during the last year and it looks like on of the ideas will become a reality. This new model, which will be a short scale 12-fret not unlike the hugely popular Taylor 12-Fret model should be ready for testing shortly and if all goes well on your dealers shelves before the holidays. The exact specs are not set in stone yet but I think it will be a winner.

Below is a picture of the new neck mold that Rainsong will use to build the new short scale necks. Gotta love a manufacturer that listens.

Update 10/10/11 - Here are some pictures of our first one:

Exciting news, Ted. I'm guessing they're using the OM body? Or is it a 00? Scale length = 24.9?

Not sure if it's 24.9 or 24.75 but yes, OM body. Think Taylor 12-Fret GC dimensions.

Cool. Sounds like it might fit in the trunk of my Miata. What level of Rainsong will it be i.e H, S, WS? Electronics?

That's great news. I've been wishing for quite a while that Rainsong would do a short-scale model.

Wow, call me crazy, but I'm digging all that stainless tooling.

Hey Ted, can RS inlay the fretboard with Abalone sharks opposed to the MOP?
The Abalone rosette on my RS really pops with the black contrast. Always thought the sharks would too?

Thanks!

Ok folks, let me answer your questions.

Lefty, sorry but as of last week Rainsong is no longer taking orders for left handed guitars.

Rollie, these guitars are not available yet.

JR, this model will more than likely feature Hybrid back and sides with Concert series top like our custom models but I'm not sure about the finish.

Sinbad, Ashvin is thinking plain fretboard for this model but he could change his mind. I have ordered a number of custom Rainsongs with plain fretboards and they do look great though.

BTW, by my calculation this 12-fret will only be about an inch longer overall than the GS Mini. Something to think about.

Hey Tarpman, I'd love to see a Hybrid Rainsong with not a single bit of abalone or MOP anywhere on it.
(i.e. something with not a single animal or plant product on it and thus 100% immune to Lacey Act issues)

I know it's too early to speculate, but how do you think it will compare to the Blackbird Lucky 13, so to speak?
