Default thomastik plectrums thumbs up!

for my guitar, and style of playing (finger style open tunings) the AC-111 set with the flatwound ADG strings, are the most beautiful playing/sounding strings I have ever heard, they are more expensive than most acoustic strings but it is reflected in the quality of the sound/constuction/appearence of the plectrums..
my guitar is old and big with red adi top and honduran hog B&S brazilian board and bridge..these strings are lower tension with a bit softer volume but just so lush and finger friendly...I'm hooked!!

They last along time too. I love them on my 000 and smaller guitars. Not so much on the D size guitars.

Default Plus one

Just put a fresh set on my Baranik CX today and agree with you 100% that they are very nice strings. Quite different to the Martin SPs that I normally use. Well worth a try.

they're probably the most unusual strings i've ever played, gentle to fingers with a unique sound - and they do last quite a while

I have used them off & on from time to time. I guess if I lived in Europe I would be using them much more but I use DR Sunbeam "Round Core" most of the time @ about 1/2 the price. They just don't come close to sounding twice as good to me.

Great, great strings that seem to bring out the very best in all of my guitars...superbly crafted. A bit expensive but worth it. They do last.

Love the wrap on the tuning machine side.

Default Thomastiks are...

My absolute favorite. I think they sound great and they're a decent value because they're so tough. I feel like I get a couple more weeks out of Thomastiks than I do with less expensive strings (I gig regularly). I think they're worth the cost.

Although, I just got this J-45 with Curt Mangan strings and those sound pretty **** good as well.

I'll probably stick with the Thomastiks, though.

Sam Ash has a good deal on the AC-111 Thomastiks, $17.99 + free shipping, I just ordered a few more sets.

That is a good price heavyg, they retail for close to US$30 here in Oz.

For another great price try Guitar Gallery at just $15.89/set +shipping

It looks like these strings are coated, am I correct? I am one of the few people on the forum who seems to like the Elixir Polywebs BECAUSE of the feel. I like their sound also. How do these feel in comparison? Do they have that smooth feel?

I really want to try these, but I do not want to spend $20 on strings that feel rough. But I hear nothing but good things from TI, so I am sure I cannot go wrong.

Well - it's possible that you won't like the string. I've spent a lot of cash trying out average strings that were absolutely raved about, but TI's in any form are not average strings. Do it.

Well y'all have me curious. So I just ordered a set of the Mediums AC-113 Thomastiks (and some of my stand-by D'Addario EJ17's) from 'Strings and Beyond'

http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/thomastik.html

- free shipping over $35 and 10% off Thomastiks right now ($17.00 for a set).

they are not coated strings, on the ac-110 and the ac-111 set the A,D and G strings are flatwound the low E is wound so its a very smooth and low tension feel, on the ac-112 and ac-113 only the G string is flatwound I think the 111's are the way to go even on a larger guitar these really are awesome strings for finger style or strumming.. the spectrums are more your regular type PB string nice but not as unique as the plectrums.

Just curious: for their "light" gauge it goes from .012 to .059!! For low E that thick wouldn't there be any issue? Am I missing something here?

Yes - that would be their Plectrum medium-light gauge. TI Plectrum is a different string than Spectrum bronze. The Plectrum has a silk-inlay that results in a lower tension string. The Spectrum is a string much like Martin SP or other strings of the type. I would try the Spectrum first.
