Default Larrivee vs Guild

Any thoughts on Larrivee L03 vs either Guild GAD 30R or Guild CO series? I think they all have 1.75 nut. Larrivee is a dread? The others are smaller bodied.
Much thx.

The Larrivee "L" is not quite a dread--that's there D series. I own a Larrivee and a Guild, though the Guild is a Westerly R.I. build. I can say that both of mine are good guitars. If you are comaparing "apples to apples" I would think you need to compare an American made Guild to the Larrivee.

BTW the L is a great sized guitar, IMO. Round shoulders--maybe somewhere around a OOOO, but with a different shape.

i love the guild GAD-30 and GAD-30R. they both sound great - the 30R has overtones and a darker tone, the 30 has a clean sound that cuts through and sounds very mahoganyesque. both sound very good both fingerpicked and strummed. they're not all that small bodied, btw - just smaller than a dread.

We live in a great time to be guitar players.
There are a lot of great sounding and playing guitars being made today.
You have picked 2 of them in your search.
You will have to decide which one you like best.
That will be the right one for you.

One thing to remember though.
Don't buy a guitar just because it plays easier than another one.
Most new guitars will need to be set up for your playing style.
A proper set up is well worth the money.

Let us know which one you get.

Be care with this Guild/Larrivee , theirs dieharts on both sides -im more of a pre-fender RI -Guild person myself .and have always though Guild to be one of the top Acoustics -and in the seventies they topped Martin for quality and sound . Larrys are decent enough guitars-( i use to own a OM10v ) but ive always though of them to be way over built - perfect tonation, super easy player -but lacked -probably because of its size, the large sound hole and the cutaway . IMHO every acoustic guitar co. that Fender bought they essentially ruined -with the exception of American made Guild -the newer ones are the best of the Fender era . im not a fan of the Chinese built ones .
