Default Best Full Size Taylor For The Money?

What has me thinking about this is it seems every time I pick up a 314ce at any of the local dealers, I think how great they sound and how consistent they are. A lot of the times the 314ce is one of the best (or the best) sounding Taylors hanging on the wall. So, you know where my vote goes.

I said "Full Size" because I didn't want to bombarded with the GS Mini craze.

What's your opinion?

My opinion is, "it depends". Everyone's tastes (and hearing) is different, so I don't think it's possible to declare a "best". The closest I think you can come is to say which models (note the plural) are generally the most highly regarded. The 314ce is definitely one of those, as is the 514ce and 814ce. But even by listing off model names I'm sure there are quite a few people, myself included, who'd list something else.

Is that a non-answer or what? I'm curious to know, though, what other folks have to say.

"For the money" is pretty subjective too. What one is willing to spend is the real factor. Doesn't matter if it is an 814, 514 or a 314. If you cannot not afford it you don't buy it. If you cannot hear the difference between these then you can save some money. BUT, there are tonal and structural differences between those guitars. Question is are you willing to pay for them? That is the subjective part.

I've loved my 414rce since the day I got it...for the small jump in price for an ltd a rosewood (if you're a rosewood guy/gal) makes this the absolute best guitar for MY money.

I've owned a LOT of Taylor guitars over the years and have sold them all too (except my R Taylor Style One.)

For me, the best Taylor I ever had for the money was a Taylor DN3. I got a tremendous buy on it on eBay. I was stupid to sell it, really.

While it may not have been the most expensive guitar or the fanciest guitar out there, the sound of it was amazing, and considering its price (even had I paid list price) it was incredible.

Best bang for the buck for a Taylor in my opinion.

I think Taylor's best value may well be the DN3 and GA3.

Best bang for the buck? A used taylor of any type...cause you won't lose any value. If you love the 314ce, grab a used one for a grand...bam, that's a great guitar for the money.

If you can find a used 314ce or 414ce in the three-digit price range, I think it's pretty hard to beat that value.

I'd say any of the 3 or 4 series depending upon which size is best suited for your playing style.

I think a 314ce or DN3 would be one of the few guitars I'd take a chance on sight, unseen, used or new.

Huge +1 for any used Taylor, with particular nod going to the 300s/400s. These are just great sounding, superb playing instruments whose simpler appointments are the only reason they cost less.
