Using The McDonald Patent Universal String Tension Calculator at: http://www.mcdonaldstrings.com/stringxxiii.html

Using a 650mm scale length (25.5")
Light gauge strings at standard tuning create 75.99 kg of tension.
Medium gauge strings tuned down half step create 77.80 kg of tension.
Medium gauge strings tune one full step down DAFCGD create 69.37 kg of tension.

So medium strings half step down is more tension than lights at standard, while medium strings whole step down is less tension than lights at standard. YMMV
