Default How often do you change your strings?

This is probably a question that has been asked a lot on the forum but I havent been able to find the answer by searching so I will ask it again.

How often do you change your guitar strings?

I am using nanowebs and play about 3 hours a day without a pick.

Thanks

If i played that much, wayne, Id probably be changing at LEAST once a month...

As it is, I can get away with about 2 months tops...and thats probably with 5-10 hours of playing per week...

About every six weeks or so. I use uncoated strings and play 1 - 1.5 hours per day.

I use nano's on both my Taylors, and play each of them about 2-3 hours per day. ( I am a college student, what am I supposed to do? Study?) I have to change about every 2 weeks. Keep in mind that I use a pick and a slide a lot of the time.

Cool

Well, I seem to go a lot longer between string changes than a lot of other people. Maybe I don't play as much as some. With the Elixir Nanos, I change after about 3 months. However, this time due to family problems demanding my attention and the holidays and just not having the time, it's been longer. Frankly, they still aren't all that bad. It's 4 months so far. I think mostly, it's up to you and your guitar. Change the strings when you feel they need to be changed.

MAKE it a GREAT day!!!

There are many places where you can get decent deals on Elixirs. Here is one of the bigger places doing mail orders over the web. They sell any kind of Elixirs for $11.50 a set. They also sell virtually every other kind of strings for any kind of instrument made.

About every three months, but I have probably the driest hands in the world. So, I don't leave any grease or oil behind, just flaking skin.

When Stenevo picks one of my guitars up, and says "Gawd, Charisse, when did you change your strings last?"

Seriously, I have a lot of guitars (I don't list the non-Taylors), so I don't wear mine out in a short time. Plus, I use my fingers no picks, and my hands don't sweat. I can go 4 months when I'm playing different guitars. 2 months on one if I play it all the time.

I use EJ16's on my 514 and change them after about ten hours. My 815 and 814 get nanos which seem to last around forty hours. My electrics get Ernie Ball Super Slinkys and go less than ten hours.

I'm a firm believer in fresh strings. Even though I wash my hands before each session and wipe down thoroughly after, I stick to a pretty rigorous schedule.

Every so often I come across a player with a primo axe and dead strings. I always ask myself "why"? To me it's sort of like hanging a Vivitar Lens on a Nikon Camera. The "weakest link in the chain" syndrome holds very true with guitars.

I guess in the final analysis it boils down to priorities and money.
