Default Name your Band!

Okay, hopefully this will be a fun thread. I have seen others like it and felt we needed a fresh one. If you had a band, group, trio etc., what would the name of your act be?

I will start......My act would do a bunch of cover songs from different groups that sound different, each with it's own voice, thus my band would be called "VOICES"

What's your dream band name?

I'll probably never have my "Own" band, but I loved the name of one of the bands I played in: CAVU

It's an acronym used by pilots, air traffic controllers, etc. and it stands for Ceiling And Visibility Unlimited = Clear Skies!

We used to do a little contest at our shows. We would offer a free CD to whoever came up with the best usage of these letters during the show. We'd get a few on notepad paper, napkins, business cards.

Here are some of my faves the folks came up with:

Come And Visit Us
Crazy And Virtually Unknown ( I think one of the band members came up with this one)
Calling All miniVan Users

Here are my 2 toppers:
Carnivores And Vegetarians Unite
Cows Against Visible Udders! Ha!

I always liked "Charlie Don't Surf".

5 bonus points to anyone who knows where that came from.

Apocalypse Now (spoken by Robert Duvall's character, the aptly named Colonel Kilgore)

Waaaaay back in the day, I always wanted a heavy rock band to be called Black Box. It has since been used by at least two acts. Another that I thought would fit the bill was Stumpgrinder. Not sure if that was stolen from me also...

I don't know what name I would use today but in high school (late '60s) I had a band that somehow managed to be well paid called the Silver Pumpkin. I got the name from the cover of the Rolling Stones album, His Satanic Majesty's Request, and convinced the three other members of the band that it was a cool name. I have never been as persuasive as I was that one time.

See lower, left hand corner.

Charlie Don't Surf is the name of a restaurant in White Rock, BC. Also, a title of a song by the Clash:

(The Clash)

CHORUS
Charlie don't surf and we think he should
Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good
Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma
Charlie's gonna be a napalm star

Thanks Google for the help.

For a band name, we always joked about being called "Semi Dog Style"

The last band I played in (a loooooooooooooooong time ago) was called Insanity. The name was way before it's time.

If I was to put together a band today, I always like the name Faceless Government Drone.

A friend and I have casually discussed playing together with his son from time to time and the name we've bandied about has been Imperial Chesterfield (St Louis area names), but it's never going to happen.

The band I play in is called "Divine Intervention". We chose that because if you heard how terrible our practices are before service you would not think we could actually play, but somehow we manage to sound pretty good every sunday.

our gigging band is in the process of coming up with a name. We are debating on "Less than Perfect" because one guy in our group is such a perfectionist that it annoys the crap out of everyone else in the group

Great name. I was born and raised in Lansing and lived in Davison for a while. Great area.

Default How about this one...

There's a band in my town that's just a bunch of dad's who like to get together and jam and have a few beers. In my opinion, their name is unequaled. They are called the Dissapointments. Their motto is: Raise your glass and lower your expectations.
