Question Old Recordings of Acoustic Guitars

On older recordings like Gordon Lightfoot or CSN is that great acoustic guitar sound just a combo of a Martin dread and a good microphone? I assume piezo bridges weren't around then unless it was in an Ovation...

Most (studio) recording use microphones instead of pickups, even today. I love Martin guitars, but alot of the old recordings used Gibson acoustics. They aren't/were'nt as boomy and they're usually easier to record. I'm not sure what was used by the artist you mentioned though.
