I used to for the batteries I'd find laying around. But then I bought a nice little tester that actually gives my a percentage of battery along with voltage so not so much anymore.

As for 'checking' batteries, I change them when the little light glows on my guitar(s). Which is very rare. I also have usually at least 2-3 brand new batteries in the various gig bags and amp cases that accompany me on gigs.

I own several devices that require a 9 volt battery besides my Fishman platinum pro.
Several years ago, I purchased a charger and a dozen rechargables. A worthy and ecologically better investment. At one of the venues that I play at, there are depleted 9 volt batteries laying about the stage. The management doesn't touch them because they don't know they are depleted. For some reason, just leaving there, is often the musicians' choice.

NOTE : 1. You can simply test battery voltage to determine whether the capacity of the battery is low or high. It won't directly detect the battery capacity precisely 2. Don't forget: The Battery Tester is activated by the battery being checked. Keep test times as short as possible to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

This is from the suggested item, Amazon battery checker.
This is kind of what I posted about…..

I always thought an LED on the preamp board was brilliant, yet I've known many Taylor owners unaware they could peek in the soundhole at the pre board and see the glowing LED indicating battery is ok.
