Would you buy a used guitar with a repaired crack?
If you ran across a guitar you liked and it had a crack in the back or top, which had been professionally repaired and the price reflected market value with the damage, would you consider it?

Wouldn't a guitar have had to been really dried at some point to crack?

I bought my Collings 01 used with a crack down the center seam and it's is my no. 1 guitar. Got it for way less and still enjoy its tone. I also don't mind other dings and scratches on it as I would've been if it was new. It bothered me at first and I went back and forth on returning it, but it was one that speaks to me each time I play it.

I have purchased one like you described-a Larrivee parlor. The repair was excellent and the guitar was very reasonable in price.
The sale would have to be dependent on an inspection by a tech.... |

Wouldn't be the first time. I seldom purchase a guitar with an eye toward resale, so nicks and cracks generally don't scare me off. A lot of my purchases over the years have been guitars that had various issues or blemishes, some repaired, some not. Struggling to recall any of them that didn't turn out just fine for me, but one should definitely do their due diligence to understand the full breadth of the guitar's condition (e.g., top crack disclosed, what about loose braces, etc.?).

If cracks have been professionally repaired and the work cleanly executed, it’s not a concern.

Yep. My J-50 has a properly repaired and cleated center seam separation in the top. I traded for it originally because it was a great deal on a vintage Gibson. Immediately got it home and listed it for sale, but fell in love with the tone. A few guys who were obviously more interested in the resale value than a great player came and looked at it and passed because of the crack. That bummed me out so much that I sold it for cheap. Then I realized it was a great sounding guitar regardless of the repairs. I was able to buy it back, and now don’t really care about it’s “market value”, because crack or no crack, it’s a great, inspiring instrument to me.

Yes. I would. Definitely. Extra words added to satisfy ridiculous short message rule.

No, it can crack for a number of reasons, including getting hit. I had a guitar crack on the top due to what the repair guy said was (common) shrinkage of the pick guard.
