Default Who has the Gibson sound with 2 1/4 string spacing?

Love my j45 but wish the nut width and string spacing were a tad wider. Who else has that Gibson growl with wider spacing in an OM or dread size?

There are Gibsons out there with 1.77 nut widths - many necks dubbed "Luthiers Choice". I had an SJ. I think many of the special Gibson runs for Fullers Vintage Guitars in Texas sport the Luthiers Choice necks. Very comfy.

I spoke to Kevin about a month ago. He does 2 runs of 32 guitars each per year, and times them so he doesn't ship during the really cold months. Anyway, both upcoming runs are sold out so to order one now I was looking at a one year wait -- I passed on that.

I saw that but for some reason those still have 2 7/32 string spacing at the saddle.

I believe my Fairbanks is 2-5/16 at the bridge. Check out Dale's work -- he really gets the tone and aesthetic of the pre-war guitars and he's a super nice guy.

I can't see (by specs) that the K-42 is going to be that much different than the K-35 but I'm sure side by side there would be some. If I was going get another of Kevin's guitars it would be his 12 fret version of the K-35/K42. I believe that guitar would be magical!

There was a Kopp K42 recently sold. http://collingsforum.com/eve/forums/...286#3320023286

I'd like those Kopp K50 guitars, too. http://eddiesguitars.com/Kevin-Kopp-K-50/

Although a 2 5/16" Saddle, there have been several Collings CJ35s on the market lately, if you're shopping used.

That's pretty wide (to me) as bridge string spacing goes. Interesting.

I looked up some Waterloo specs. I'd like to try one some time and see how my fingerpicking hand matches up.

Isn't the standard Gibson string spacing on modern J45s (and most other standard Gibson acoustics, I believe) 2 7/32, which would be less than 2 3/8? And 2 3/8 is more than 2 1/4. My Gibson Original Jumbo, at 2 3/8, definitely has more room than the standard J45. I've noticed that most Fairbanks emulations of vintage Gibson models also feature 2 3/8" string spacing.

Typo on my part. I'm not very good with fractions.. I will correct the posts. Thanks for pointing that out.
