Question Ernie Ball Earthwood and tension

Does anyone have any information about Ernie Ball Earthwood and tension?
Are Ernie Ball generally a lower tension string when compared to D'Addario?

You can send them an email and ask for info about string tension. I also did and they are happy to help you out.

The only way to know is to get some. They are a warm sounding bronze with a nice tone. i use them a lot. I don't think they are hard on your fingers.

I just put some on my D-18. They sound great.

I keep coming back to the 2004's, and I like to experiment with different strings. But the 2004's always win out.

I think so too. they don't have that edgy sound you get with some bronze strings you get initially.

They are nice and the only 80/20 I've ever enjoyed....keep in mind their "light" gauge are 11 to 52 vs most other brands that are 12 to 53/54 in lights; so in that regard they will feel easier.

Earthwood 80/20s are what I used to use on my D-18 and OM-15. Great strings with a slinky feel and not slippery like Elixirs. Excellent tone.

You should buy by gauge, not name. I.e. 12 - 54s are called "Medium Lights" but are equivalent to Martin Lights.

So apparently their 12-54 pb are 172lbs
i have ej16 160lbs on there now.

the reason i was asking about the tension difference is because this is the first time ive owned a guitar with a solid sitka top. will that 172lbs be too much?

I don't think that should be a problem. I believe the Earthwoods from Ernie Ball are 80/20, generally they will have a little less tension than pb's. The scale length on the EJ16 and the 12-54 pb's EB also might not be the same, it would explain the difference in tension.
