Default What guitar to you regret selling the most?

The only guitar I ever sold was a black Westbury Standard electric. I should have held onto it and if one turns up at the right time I might get another - but to be honest there are other guitars I’d want more first.

My big regret is selling my Aria SB Black n Gold II bass (the BnG version of the SB Elite) in order to give me some cash for college. It was either that or the Ibanez Musician fretless and as I was playing mostly fretless at the time the Aria had to go. It was the right decision at the time but I wish I still had that bass! The recent reissue is based on the 1-pickup version, I had the two pickup model.

My Fender Geddy Lee Jazz, which I bought a couple of years ago, has an amazing neck and a great sound so I don’t miss the Aria as much as I used to!

Default Martin 00016C-gtre

I had two of them, but was building a business at that time and during some cash flow issues I sold them both.
One went to England and I forgot were the other one went.
Nice mellow acoustic with a pretty nice low end sound.

2nd choice would have been a Taylor 514-ce..

In 2007 I had David Webber build me a custom Roundbody - Engelmann, GORGEOUS Claro Walnut, Florentine, full abalone top, 1 13/16 nut and 2 5/16 saddle.

I was heavy in my buying and selling phase and sold it and bought it back 3 times. The fourth sale was to someone off this board and I could never get it back if I wanted.

Beautiful guitar - and if I knew then what I know now, I'd have made it nearly the perfect stage guitar!

My only regretted sale was a 1929 Martin OM prototype. It was a wonderful instrument. I don’t really miss the guitar but they’re selling for insane amounts of money these days and I could use the cash.

Mine would be a nice but not particularly remarkable 1970 Martin D-28. That guitar toured with me with fiddler Marie Rhines all over the country, many festivals, concerts, fiddle contests, recorded with Philo Records. So many great memories tied up in that guitar. I traded it in the early 1980s for a Strat that I needed for some band work. I'd dearly love to find that old D-28 and would gladly buy it back. It is unique in that I had a diamond and ovals pearl inlay job done on the neck and one of the ovals is slightly crooked, and there is about a 1-inch round finish ding on the upper side. If you happen to own this one and want to sell it, please let me know!

For me it would be a Guild MK IV classical that I bought while in high school working at a music shop. Sold it to one of the guitar instructors that worked there.

Frankly, I regret selling a few...but the Gruhn CS Martin 0000-18 would be my number one regret ever. It was amazing...and I was amazingly stupid.

Gibson ES-175

All my acoustic guitar trades have been from a nice guitar to a nicer guitar, so I don't really regret any of those.

My regret was a cheap Sigma (as just discussed on another thread " the value of comfort") I managed to get it back.

I don't regret selling anything as it was part of my musical journey to get where I am today. That said there are guitars I miss and wish I still had but I have a strict three-guitar rule (which I'm currently in violation of, btw!) so when new guitars come in, old guitars go out.

Probably the guitar I miss the most is a Martin 000-18GE Custom Ambertone with a slotted headstock and just the right amount of bling on it. That guitar just ticked off so many boxes for me tonally and aesthetically that I wish I still had it. After that there was this Martin 00-18VS UMGF Custom also in Ambertone that was just a great little guitar. I've seen it pop up here at least once and I almost bought it back.

For me it was a 1980 Gibson Black Beauty .I was in the service and my roommate just bought it .Soon after he decides to go AWOL and gave it to me for $150.00 . Like a JA i pawned it for 100 bucks. I had 3 months to get it back.I went on maneuvers and missed the date .
